The safety practices laid out by the National Electric Code (NEC) promote a standard of safe electrical practices. Developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the NEC covers definitions and rules for installation of electrical products along with guidelines dealing with circuit protection, materials for wiring, and general purpose equipment. The NEC also outlines procedures for special occupancies, special equipment, and special conditions as defined by the NFPA. Although the NEC is not official US Law, it has been adopted by many states and municipalities in order to create a standard code for safe electrical practices for such areas. EMSI, Inc. strongly believes in the practices laid out by the NEC in an effort to spread a culture that promotes safety.
